1123 Third floor apartment in West Hampstead

We are very lucky to be transforming the second apartment in the gorgeous Cholmley Gardens estate in North Londons West Hampstead.

We have already worked on a ground-floor apartment in the very same building. This was a few years ago, and back then we were able to improve the flow in this apartment a lot, by knocking through two structural walls to create new openings – you can see the outcome here.

Our client is a young family, who at the time of Covid needs space to relax, and also space for the inevitable working from home situation. This lateral apartment benefits from amazing views both onto the main road, but also onto the inner courtyard of Cholmeley Gardens. There, we have a good view of the estates and tennis courts. Since the front part of the apartment and its bedrooms are facing the rather noisy main road, the aim of this design will be to move the main living area towards the back.

Enter this apartment you are entering a quite big and open space area, which the previous owners used for a dining room. It is a great area and provides a focal point and center point to walk into different directions from the flat.

Our task is however to create new bathroom and storage areas into this very space, which allows us to open up and increase the space towards the inner courtyard area of this estate. This part benefits from a lot of natural daylight, but certain areas simply don’t need that much light.

The works were expected to be completed in early 2022 after very unfortunate issues with two contractors.
