02061 Aquarium store concept, London

Our client asked us to create a contemporary-looking aquarium store to open in 2022, Covid permitting of course. It will be focused on African cichlids from lakes Malawi and Tanganyika.

We love aquariums! If you have had the chance to be our client, you must know that every now and then we try and squeeze in an aquarium into your design, whether you ask us to or not. So when this opportunity presented itself, that one of our previous clients asked us to design a concept aquarium store for them Centre of London, we, that means specifically Michael, jumped at this occasion to do this project! The idea behind this concept is to create a rather dark background, which calms you down as you enter from the busy High Street into this cool and contemporary interior. Like a background is also much more suited to bring out the beautiful colors, shapes, and movement of fish from all over the world much better. We have also thought of a central feature aquarium, which will be rated by the more rare ocean fish. The majority of fish in this aquarium will be coming from the Great Lakes of Africa, namely Tanjangjika and Malawi. These great lakes are home to endemic species of Cichlids.

From the street however you will be able to window shop and see some fish as well. Due to the noise and rapid movements you have on the busy London streets, we had to resort to very much limit the visibility of our aquariums from the main street in order to reduce stress for the fish.

Inside the shop, there is a section where you can look into one of the aquariums which have a mirror behind it, and literally see yourself being inside the water!

The opening of the store is largely dependent on the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic.
