Monaco Yacht Show 2018
Following many years of attempting, I finally visited the industry famous Monaco Yacht Show. The event encompasses an essence of high-end sector of the yacht design industry. This is the place where one can meet many of the top designers, manufactures and of course to see the yachts themselves. All of this in an amazing setting of beautifully situated Port Hercules.
After getting in through the inevitably heavy security, you get a feeling that you made it. The show is busy and has a contagious buzz. When walking among mega yachts, one can feel a bit dwarfed but completely in awe of the stunning craftsmanship.
The fair is one of few places, where world renowned yacht designers showcase their creations, as these are custom made units, which take part in the show mostly thank to willingness of their owners. Designing a high-end yacht is a very private process with very limited publicity. Visiting a yacht show like this is often an only way for anyone outside of the proud owners’ circle of friends to experience them so close.
The Monaco Yacht Show is not small by any means. There are over 125 one-off yachts exhibited and 580 companies from all possible sectors within the yachting industry and beyond, such as some cars, helicopters or jets manufacturers.
For anyone serious about the yachting industry, this is a great place to network and to explore new designs and products. However, thanks to the show’s unique atmosphere and spectacular location, I would still recommend it to anyone searching for inspiration and a new experience.
