The Owners of this character terraced property in Chiswick, West London, approached us to help them with extending their home and to carry out refurbishment of the whole ground floor.
Rear and side extension in Chiswick, W4
The property used to have a very shallow extension at the back, which felt more like an adjacent external storage than a part of the house. We wanted to enlarge the house to the maximum and successfully obtained a planning permission from the London Borough of Hounslow for a side and rear extensions.
Country kitchen in London
The new extension houses a large kitchen and a dining area. The shaker style units have been supplied by Neptune. The cabinets come in three colours – green, grey and white. The layout is L-shaped on one side with a large kitchen island in the middle. On the opposite wall, there is tall storage, a pantry as well as a double fridge-freezer.
An Aga cooker in beige colour has been chosen. The splash-back by the cooker has been tiles and a classic extractor installed.
The kitchen has a warm, country atmosphere with a wooden worktop on the island and beams running through the space. It is complemented by copper accents, such as the pendant lights and the bar stools.
Rustic dining room
The long table made of rough wooden planks give the dining area a hearty rustic feel. The table comes with a matching wooden bench and industrial metal chairs in a blue shade.
The extension is very bright thanks to beige coloured stone tiles on the floor and multiple roof lights. Wide folding glass doors open onto a redesigned garden.
Shaker style utility room
The utility room resonates a similar style. The room has bespoke shaker cabinets in a little bit richer shade of green complemented by a wooden worktop and a Belfast sink. The same stone stiles have been sued on the floor.
Cosy reception room
The living room at the front of the house comes with a beautiful bay window. The room has been completely refurbished and a new medium brown wooden floor installed.
Delicate cornices run around its outline. The period fireplace with a tiled front has been maintained and a new, plastered surround mounted. Classic shelves with cabinets on the bottom have been added inside the recesses on both sides of the fireplace.
Blue cloakroom
The downstairs guest WC has been redecorated using one of the colours of the year – dark blue. This has been paired with traditional style sanitary-ware and a gold frame mirror.
