The Stefan Kurylowicz Foundation: Lecture with Amanda Levete in Warsaw
On 1st April 2016, The Stefan Kuryłowicz Foundation in association with the Polish Cultural Institute in London, organised the first ever lecture by Arch. Amanda Levete in Poland, which took place during The Foundation’s annual event celebrating winners of its THEORY and PRACTICE programmes, which support young Polish architects.
Amanda Levete is a one of the top British architects and one of the few who have been awarded the Sterling Prize. She started her career in 1980s and after having worked with Jan Kaplicky at Future Systems, where she received the Sterling Prize for the Lord’s Media Centre, she now leads practice AM_A in London. One of AM_A’s current projects is a design of the new courtyard, entrance and gallery of the Victoria na Albert Museum in London.
The lecture title was “From vision to completion” (Od wizji do projektu)
This first visit of Amanda Levete in Poland was a great opportunity for attendees of the lecture to ask her questions about her life’s work and current projects. The lecture was inspirational, and showed that persistence and a drive to follow one’s believes and convictions goes a long way, and not only in architecture, of course.
